Crossbred Productivity: Hybridizers

 

Producers of F1 Hybrid replacement females (Hybridizers)

They are a result of the cross of 2 purebred breeds of sheep to maximize hybrid vigor, e.g. a purebred maternal ram (e.g. Dorset) on a prolific ewe  (e.g. Rideau Arcott) to maximize flock performance. The hybridizers produce high quality commercial females for commercial producers.

A minimum of 150 hybrid lambs having 50 &100d weights records are required to be part of this category. One farmer classified this year.

 

Some recognition awards are available to breeders who believe in the genetic evaluation program and actively contribute to its proper functioning.
