Producers of F1 Hybrid replacement females (Hybridizers)

They are a result of the cross of 2 purebred breeds of sheep to maximize hybrid vigor, e.g. a purebred maternal ram (e.g. Dorset) on a prolific ewe  (e.g. Rideau Arcott) to maximize flock performance. The hybridizers produce high quality commercial females for commercial producers.

A minimum of 250 hybrid lambs having 50 &100d weights records are required to be part of this category. Only one Ontario farmer classified in this category this year.

Some recognition awards are available to breeders who believe in the genetic evaluation program and actively contribute to its proper functioning.

GenOvis celebrates its 25th anniversary this year!
