Improver Rams Lists
The Improver Rams lists allow you to find evaluated animals on GenOvis genetic evaluation program and which are improvers in their breed. An improver animal is an animal that performs better than its breed’s average. Thus by buying improver animals, you will increase your flock performance.
Improver rams must have a genetic index greater than the breed average (from 50% to 89%)
Maternal and prolific rams are selected on the following genetic indexes:
- Maternal Index (MAT)
- Maternal Ultrasound Index (MAT-U)
- Maternal Higher Prolificacy Index (MAT-HP)
- Maternal Ultrasound Higher Prolificacy Index (MAT-UHP)
Terminal rams are selected on the following genetic indexes:
- Gain Index (GAIN)
- Carcass Index (CARC)
IMPORTANT
To publish breed’s top rams’ list, there must be a minimum of 3 producers who have evaluated a total of 100 ewes in the genetic program during the year.
For breeds with low participation numbers in GenOvis, lists may not be available. If there is no file attached to the link, it means no animal meets the publication criteria.
