Updated Genetic Indexes

New name, new purpose

Gx, GxM, Tx and TxM don't exist anymore. The new updated indexes have bilingual names to facilitate exchanges accross Canada.

How do I know which index to use? Each index has it own objective!

For buyers of evaluated animals:

- Does the breeder take ultrasound measurements?

- What is my breeding objective?

  • I want to increase my lambs' growth.
  • I want to increase my number of lambs born (buying more prolific replacement ewes / more prolific ram to produce prolific replacement ewe-lambs)
  • I want to improve my maternal qualities without increasing my number of lambs born. I would like to have heavier lambs at weaning. (buying maternal replacement ewes / maternal ram to produce replacement ewe-lambs)
